புதிய ஆங்கிலச் சொற்கள் - New Words in English

ஆங்கில மொழிக்கு புதிதாகச் சொற்கள் சேர்க்கப்பட்டுக் கொண்டே இருக்கிறது. அவை பலதரப்பட்ட துறைகளில் இருந்தும் சேர்க்கப்பட்டுக் கொள்ளப்படும். ஆங்கில மொழிக்கு வளமும் பெருமையும் சேர்ப்பவை அவையே. அண்மையில் புதிதாகச் சேர்க்கப்பட்ட சொற்களும் அவற்றின் பொருளும்:

aha moment:  A moment of sudden inspiration, insight, recognition or understanding. திடீரென உருவாகும் உத்வேகம்.

bucket list:  A list of things that one wants to do before dying. மண்டையைப் போடமுன்னர் செய்யவேண்டும் என நினைப்பவை.

cloud computing:  Storing regularly used computer data on servers that can be accessed via the Internet. இணையவெளியூடாக தரவுகளை சேமித்து வைத்தல்.

earworm: A song or melody that keeps repeating in one’s mind. மனதுக்குள் அடிக்கடி முணுமுணுக்கும் பாடல்.

f-bomb:   A euphemism for having used the “f-word” பலான வார்த்தைகள் போன்ற சொற்களைப் பாவிப்பது

game changer:  A new element or factor that changes an existing situation or activity in a significant way. தற்போதைய நிலைமையை மாற்றியமைக்கும் காரணிகள்.

mash-up:  Something created by combining elements from two or more sources. பல மூலங்களில் இருந்து காரணிகளை எடுத்துக் கலத்தல்.

sexting:  Sending sexually explicit messages or images by cell phone. கைப்பேசியில் பலான தகவல்கள் அனுப்புதல்

systemic risk:  The risk that the failure of one financial institution could cause other interconnected institutions to fail…and thus harm the economy as a whole. ஒரு நிறுவனத்தின் வீழ்ச்சி அத்துடன் தொடர்புடைய பல நிறுவனங்களை விழச்செய்யும் ஆபத்து.

underwater:  A mortgage loan for which more is owed than the property securing the loan is worth. சொத்தின் பெறுமதிக்கு மேலான ஈட்டுக் கடன்.

nesting (noun) : an arrangement of divorced parents in which their children live in one location full-time and the parents take turns living with the children at that location


consistify(verb) : to make consistent or congruous

textophrenia (noun) : the sensation of hearing or feeling a text message alert when no message has been received


retainage(noun) : that portion of a construction contract payment that is withheld until the project is completed

status (verb) : to add or update information (as on a report) about the status of something

deconflict(verb) : to resolve conflicts in a schedule


agreeance (noun) : agreement

editorialism (noun) : an instance or example of editorializing
