போர்க் குற்றம்: Archbishop of Canterbury இன்று என்ன சொல்கிறார்?

அர்ச் பிஷப் ஒf கண்டபரி (Archbishop of Canterbury ) என்பவர் இங்கிலாந்து தேவாலயத்தின்(Church of England) அதி உயர் ஆண்டகையாவார். தற்போது இப்பதவியை அலங்கரிப்பவர் Rt Rev Dr Rowan Williams அவர்கள்.

2007ஆம் ஆண்டு மே மாதம்இலங்கைக்குப் பயணம் மேற்கொண்டிருந்த Archbishop of Canterbury Rt Rev Dr Rowan Williams அவர்கள் இலங்கையில் தமிழர்களுக்கு எதிரன சிங்களப் படை நவடிக்கைகளைப் பற்றி இப்படிக் குறிப்பிட்டார்:

• "It is undoubtedly inevitable that what you might call surgical military action against terrorism should take place",

Archbishop Williams said in reports filed by TamilNet and the BBC Sinhala service on May 11, 2007.

அவரது கருத்துப்படி சிங்களவர்களின் படை நடவடிக்கை பயங்கரவாதத்திற்கு எதிரான ஒன்று. அது சந்தேகத்திற்கு இடமின்றி தவிர்க்க முடியாத ஒரு சத்திர சிகிச்சை.

இதைக் கடுமையாக எதிர்த்து ஒரு சிங்கள ஆங்கிலிக்கன் கிருத்தவர் Rt Rev Dr Rowan Williamsஅவர்களுக்கு கடிதம் எழுதியிருந்தார். அதில் முக்கியமான அம்சம்:

What your irresponsible comments have done are to :-

1. Encourage even greater violation of the human rights of the Tamil civilian population by the Sri Lankan Armed Forces.

2. Give invaluable support to Sinhalese ethno-religious chauvinists who are determined to make multi-ethnic, multireligious, multilingual and multicultural Sri Lanka into a Sinhala-Buddhist nation. Today, these extremist elements in Colombo are celebrating your comment – an indication of the damage that has been done by a flippant remark.

3. Strengthen the stance of President Rajapakse and his brothers to establish a fascist dictatorship and embark on a genocidal massacre of the Tamils in the North East. The photograph of Rajapakse greeting you has been circulated all over the world, enhancing his flagging international image and decreasing yours.

4. Make Tamil civilians in the North East, who are being brutalised by the current murderous regime, feel that their suffering is of no concern to you, and that what is being done to them is inevitable ‘surgical military action” which “should take place”..

Archbishop of Canterbury Rt Rev Dr Rowan Williams அவர்களின் கருத்து சிங்களவர்களைத் தமிழர்களுக்கு எதிரான மனித உரிமை மீறல்களையும் கொலைகளையும் ஊக்குவிக்கும்; இலங்கையை சிங்கள் பௌத்த நாடாக்கும் முயற்ச்சியை ஊக்குவிக்கும்.
